Our Halcyon Heights' Shetland Sheepdog ("Sheltie") is named "Jalad" (Juh-LODD). The name is from the story of Darmok and Jalad at Tinagra. From across the ocean, Darmok and Jalad arrived separately on the island of Tinagra. They had not known each other. They met with great suspicion. On Tinagra, they had no choice but to unite as they faced and defeated a common enemy. They left as friends.
